I want to go back
to Mayacamas Vinyards
and plant grapes while singing "Workin on the Chain Gang"
I want to go Back
to Wrights Beach, sleep on the sand, Waves crashing.
I Want to go Back
To Goat Rock and fly my dome tent like a kite
I want to go back
To Duncan Mills Campground where the stars shined like a cosmic Hasbro Light-Bright and the sound of the Russian river lulled me to sleep.
I want to go back
to the days when young men wore their pants around their waist
and you never saw any ones boxers.
I want to go back
To KVON Radio station and play the long version of "Carry On" By Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young while smoking Hashish out side the studio
I want to go back
and work the concession stand selling coke and candy bars at one of my mom's concerts at the Napa Fairgrounds
While "Country Joe and The Fish" play an anti war song and become part of rock and roll history.
I want to go back
To Golden Gate Park and see the "Jefferson Airplane" for free
I want to go back and drive my 1960 Ford Falcon from San Jose to Napa
on $3.00 worth of gas with "Pink Floyd" blaring from the Eight Track.
I want to go back and pinpoint just where the Star ship Enterprise first appears in the opening credits for "Star Trek" and Ride the back roads of Hazzard County with the Duke Boys, Back to when Hoss Cartwright's 10 gallon hat was 15 gallons and the "Bolt Brothers" Ran Seattle and owned Bridal Veil mountain.
I want to go back to a simpler time and place where multi- thousand watt car stereos dont exist and 9/11 was just another date.
I want to Go Back
to my best friend Ron Brooks's house when UHF telivision was the latest thing
and wachikanoka the Indian and the "Old Sourdough" were a late nite offering on "KEMO" channel 20 from San Francisco, and The Robinson Family were"Lost In Space" and "WWW" was "The Wild Wild West" Not the "World Wide Web"
Damn How I want to go Back!

Just wanted to state again how much I loved reading this post. It conjures up so many memories and all of them good. I may do my own version, with credit to you, one day but for now I am in awe of your post.
Thanks, I really could have gone on and on but then I would just have been rambling.

Indeed, what an excellent post.
I have a massive collection of old and rare shows but not a shred of The Old Sourdough and Wachinoka. I'd trade someone sweet for another look at it, one of my fondest memories.

Thanks for the nostalgic interlude.

Hey Ray,
How cool it is to find some one who remembers "The Old Sourdough"
I remember watching it on late night Saturdays(or fridays?) when I was a kid. I just loved the banter between The old sourdough and his Indian friend "Wachikanoka" I especially remember the inuendos and veiled references to Marijuana and getting stoned. I clearly remember one episode where the Old sourdough was supposed to be rolling a cigarette and Wachikonaka made a comment that he had never seen "Tobacco" with seeds before. If you are a fan of classic TV check out the link on my blog for TV classics. It hasn't been updated for a while but it is still quite fun to browse. Thanks for the comment. R K Savage.

Hey R.K - Thanks for the kind reply. I found UHF Nocturne a good while ago, then just the other day I found ga3ry.com and wow! Pictures! What a trip down memory lane. That's the first glimpse of the Old Sourdough and Wachikanoka that I've had in over thirty years.
I might be just a little bit younger than you because I don't recall any specific banter or the hidden jokes about weed. I was pretty young when I used to see it and I had to watch it on the sneak, after my folks had gone to bed. I would sit in the dark in our family room with the volume super low, and even the brightness of the TV turned way down, and laugh at the jokes... but all these years later, I can't remember them :) Sometimes I'd forget to set the brightness back up and the next day my father would be cussing the TV set, pulling tubes and taking them down to the hardware store to check them, wondering why sometimes the brightness would drop so low overnight!
I do remember the show very fondly, though, and would love to get ahold of one to watch again. That's my main focus of watching these forums and so forth; I intend to see this show again before I die!
In closing, I think we know each other from somewhere else! I'm using the same nick as I use there, so you tell me :)

Hey Ray,
To reply was my pleasure. I want to thank you for the turn on to ga3ry.com. I was so pleased to see the pictures. It reminded me of so much that I had forgotten. It was a most pleasant surprise and put a big smile on my face for which I am very greatful.
As for knowing each other from somewhere else.? I don't recognize your nick' but hey we know each other now. I am 52 and grew up in the Napa Valley. I assume that you grew up in the Bay area as well because you remember the Old Sourdough. Thanks again for ga3ry.com. Take care. feel free to stay in touch via this blog or you can send your email address and I will note it and delete it from the blog if you want.
